Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

MONITOR TYRE PRESSURE IN REAL-TIME

The BPW idem telematics Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) continuously monitors tyre pressure and temperature to improve safety, efficiency, and performance.

Fully compliant with UN ECE 141 regulation, the system transmits live tyre data directly to the truck via the Electronic Braking System (EBS), enabling immediate alerts to drivers and reducing the risk of costly blowouts.

ACCURATE AND RELIABLE SENSOR TECHNOLOGY

Rim-mounted sensors simultaneously record tyre pressure and temperature, transmitting the data to a central receiving unit.

The BPW idem Telematics Gateway Basic can support up to 24 individual tyre sensors, expandable to 48 with the Gateway Pro.

Sensors can be mounted on either the wheel rim or the tyre valve and deliver readings with an accuracy of +/- 0.3 bar.

REGULATION COMPLIANCE - UN ECE R141

From July 2022, all new commercial HGV trailer types submitted for European Whole Vehicle Type Approval (EU WVTA) must have a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

From July 2024, the R141 regulation requires all newly registered trailers to have a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) fitted.

While trailers certified under GB National Small Series Type Approval (NSSTA) and Individual Type Approval (IVA) are currently exempt, BPW TPMS ensure future-ready compliance and improved road safety.

POWERED BY BPW IDEM TELEMATICS

BPW idem Telematics provides a single, advanced platform for real-time trailer monitoring – from tyre pressure to overall performance, operators gain actionable insights to manage safety, efficiency, and maintenance. All data is accessible via the Driver App or the Cargofleet platform:

  • Customised data: Filter information and adjust report frequency to focus on what matters.

  • Anywhere, anytime access: Monitor tyre conditions remotely for smarter, more proactive fleet management.

  • Automated notifications: Email alerts can be sent to fleet managers or tyre service providers for faster response.

PROACTIVE SAFETY ALERTS

Intelligent alerts notify operators of critical tyre conditions before they become dangerous.

Alerts are triggered if:

  • Pressure drops +/- 0.2 bar below the target for 20 minutes.

  • If the temperature exceeds the target by 20°C for 10 minutes.

Time-offset settings prevent false alarms, and notifications include detailed data such as date, time, and vehicle location for faster response and improved safety oversight.

PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE AND OPTIMISED TYRE PERFORMANCE

Continuous monitoring helps drivers and fleet managers identify potential tyre issues before they escalate, preventing blowouts and costly downtime.

Maintaining optimal tyre conditions ensures safer operations, longer tyre life, and improved fleet efficiency.

Features & Benefits:

  • Reduces fuel consumption and tyre wear.

  • Minimises downtime from tyre blowouts.

  • Ensures vehicles are safer on the road.

  • Compliance with UN ECE R141.

  • Customisable reporting to focus on key information.

  • Preventive alerts that enhance fleet safety and performance.

BPW AIRSAVE - GOING ONE STEP FURTHER

BPW AirSave builds on the capabilities of TPMS by not only monitoring tyre pressure but actively regulating it through an integrated inflation system.

Key benefits include:

  • Automatic Pressure Regulation: Activates at just +/- 0.2 bar to maintain optimal tyre pressure.

  • Safety Alerts: Permanent pressure loss triggers a visible warning light in the cab, prompting the driver to stop safely.

  • Fuel Efficiency & Emissions Reduction: Maintaining optimal tyre pressure can save approximately 250 litres of fuel and 655 kg of CO2 per year (based on a tri-axle trailer covering 120,000 km annually).
