Technical

The Technical Department is a fully integrated part of the services offered to our customers by BPW Limited. The extent of technical support is highlighted under the following headings:

Installation drawings.
General Assembly drawings are available to the designer for all our axle and suspension types to ensure that the installation meets with the trailer manufacturers' requirements and to ensure conformity with BPW installation requirements. This information is available in industry standard 2D CAD format. 3D representation of various components is also available.

Axle and suspension data from our standard air suspension ranges can also be directly downloaded from the BPW website. BPW data sheets can be downloaded in PDF format, and the associated 2-D geometric data as DXF files (AutoCad Drawing Interchange Format). Registration is required for new users. Installation procedures.
Technical guidance for best practice regarding installation and repair procedures can be accessed through the department. This service is available to manufacturers, service stations and end users and is supported by access to relevant workshop manuals and data information sheets.

Brake calculations.
The BPW Limited Brake Calculation Service is available as part of an integrated approach to the total installation package. BPW Limited have technical expertise and vast experience in the areas of commercial vehicle brake compatibility and use this knowledge when compiling customer brake calculations. Up-to date approval data ensures all aspects relating to whole vehicle type approval are confirmed. The brake calculation itself and the setting parameters for the system are only a part of the package. Fitment of brake hardware to the axle with all the relevant dimensional and installation information are included in a package that can be delivered directly to the workshop floor in a no nonsense understandable format.

Calculation data for either Semi Trailer or Full Trailer may be completed on-line.

Turning Circle Diagrams.
Specific layouts of truck and trailer combinations can be checked for conformity to the turning circle requirements and are available from the department.

Trailer Tilt Stability Calculations.
Where consideration has to be given to trailer stability issues a calculation can be produced to give an indication of the predicted tilt angle and the lateral forces involved. This service can be used to make comparison between various trailer designs.

General.
All of these services can be established at an early stage in project development in order to take advantage of the opportunity to explore all possibilities of concept and design. This level of dialog is available from engineers who have a firm understanding and many years of experience of trailer manufacturing requirements.

Product Training.
Preparation of materials for product training is largely engineering based. Training aids, presentations and support to the training programme is an integral part of the operation.

Type approval data.

Diagnostic Services.
Engineering diagnostic support is an integral part of the BPW strategy towards our customers. This service may be conducted on a direct basis with the customer or indirectly through our own Customer Services Department. This type of work is often undertaken as long term projects with transport partners or as specific investigations to assist customers with issues that fall outside normal routine service requirements. In some cases, ‘real-time’ brake data investigations may be undertaken after full technical consultation. Information obtained in this case can be of significant benefit in brake compatibility investigations.

Information gathered from all forms of diagnostic investigations is seen as a valuable asset to our own product
development. A close working relationship with Technical staff at BPW in Germany is an integral part of this
operation.
