BPW'S TECHNICAL TIPS NO. 9 - AUTOMATIC SLACK ADJUSTER

The BPW automatic slack adjuster is a precision component that ensures correct adjustment of the drum brakes. This component requires greasing at every statutory inspection.

Annually the brake should be de-adjusted and the slack adjuster purged through until fresh grease is ejected past the adjustment bolt. The brakes should be applied several times so that the correct movement of the slack adjuster bolt can be observed. The slack adjuster can then be adjusted according to our maintenance instructions. Don’t forget to replace the plastic cap.

If you need any help or advice with this routine then please visit our website www.bpw.co.uk/technical where you can download the Maintenance Instructions - BPW Axles and Suspensions. Alternatively, simply call our Technical Services team on 0044 116 2816100 (option 4) for help and guidance.
