BPW'S TECHNICAL TIPS NO. 7 - STANDARD DIN TAPER ROLLER BEARINGS

All BPW hubs are built around standard DIN taper roller bearings. This not only ensures long and trouble free life when used with our ECO Li+ grease but it also means that bearing wear is adjustable.

When a hub is removed for brake maintenance, adjustment is achieved automatically when the hub is replaced. In circumstances where hubs are not removed during a 12 month period the hub free play should be checked at least annually.

This is done by removing the hub cap, jacking up the wheel and turning the spindle nut (or bolt with ECO+2 hubs) clockwise until a loud click is heard as the self tourqueing device reaches its pre-set torque. Lower the axle to the ground and replace the hub cap, there is no need to remove the wheel and tyre assembly.

If you feel in need of refresher training to correctly service your BPW products, then you can always join one of our maintenance courses. The company's prestigious Infomobil is touring Scotland and Northern England from Monday 24 - Friday 28 April 2017, £120 + VAT per person, per day. Alternatively, here at our head office in Leicester, we are running our two day Axle and Suspension Maintenance courses on Wednesday 22 - Thursday 23 March 2017 and Tuesday 16 - Wednesday 17 May 2017 at a cost of £220 + VAT.

To book your place on the service training dates, information about any of our products including our ECO Plus 3 hubs or technical advice from our team of engineers, please contact us today on 0116 281 6100 or email info@bpw.co.uk
