BPW'S TECHNICAL TIPS NO. 10 - CHECK THE SENSOR

ABS sensors play an important role in ensuring that the ABS (anti-lock braking system) and the roll stability functions of the trailer brake ECU (electronic control unit) function correctly.

When you remove a hub for maintenance take a moment to locate the sensor and by placing 2 fingers behind it, pull it outwards as far as it will travel (about 3 mm). When the hub is replaced the sensor will be pushed back in its mounting bracket and thus the correct adjustment will be achieved.

Check also that the Pole Wheel is in good condition and is free from deformity or corrosion.

If you feel in need of refresher training to correctly service your BPW products, then you can always join one of our maintenance courses. The next training held at our head office in Leicester is the two day Axle and Suspension Maintenance course on Tuesday 16 - Wednesday 17 May 2017 at a cost of £220 + VAT.
