Within the framework of further development of the BPW standard axle range, the 12t N-axle for the low-loader sector has been substantially improved.

Development of a new axle beam profile means that BPW low-loader axles, up to 12t load per axle with air suspension, can in future be supplied with 120mm square hollow beams as standard. The profile was optimally tailored using redesigned wall thickness to meet the special demands of the 12t sector.

The solid square or round tube axles previously used for this application have been replaced by the new square hollow profile.

Two features make the 12t N-axle outstanding:

By replacing the well known BPW standard axle beam, trusted millions of times over, with the 120mm hollow square section beam, BPW can use standard components for integration of the axle clamping.

The new profile makes possible track to spring centre differentials of 950mm. The result is a weight saving of up to 89kg compared with the solid square profile axle beam versions and up to 33kg compared with round tube versions.
