Airlight Direct

Airlight Direct is the latest addition to the BPW range of air suspensions and will shortly be available for use with drum braked axles. It features a combination air bag, fitted as standard, which is mounted directly over the axle beam.

Air bags can often be damaged due to stretching and creasing. However Airlight Direct has been designed so that, if necessary, the piston can automatically separate from the air bag. A feature which is particularly useful for intermodal operations.

With conventional air suspensions the axle load is distributed into the vehicle, partly through the air bag and partly through the hanger bracket. The proportion through each is determined by the position of the axle on the trailing arm. In the Airlight Direct air suspension system the air bag is located directly above the axle, thus absorbing 100% of the axle load. This adds up to a comfortable suspension combined with low superstructure acceleration values. Put another way, this means less stress in the trailer body.

The Airlight Direct, which is currently available for use with disc braked axles, is a low maintenance suspension system that is fully repairable due to its modular construction. This allows for replacement parts to be purchased and fitted separately where necessary. The system can also be registered for the full benefits of BPW's Ecoplus guarantee.
