The 4309T Disc brake was developed by two of the industry's leading players, BPW Bergische Achsen KG and Knorr Bremse AG.

Together they have produced the monoblock brake, with tangential brake mounting, which is exclusive to BPW. The brake caliper is no longer attached by means of the axial connection that has been used up to now. It is attached tangentially, ie the bolts for the brake caliper are fitted in line with the caliper.
